The single most important Bio RePeel aftercare rule is this: protect your skin from heat and sun while you keep your routine gentle. Bio RePeel is designed to give you that refreshed glow without the heavy downtime of a traditional chemical peel, but your first few days still matter. Here in Lansdowne, especially during our humid summers, sweat plus sun exposure is the fastest way to stir up irritation and dull your result.
First 24 to 48 hours: keep it calm, clean, and breathable
Right after your Bio RePeel (the “No-Peel-Peel”), think simple and soothing. I generally recommend a gentle cleanser, a fragrance-free moisturizer, and sunscreen in the daytime. No scrubs. No acids. No retinoids. And please don’t pick at your skin, even if it feels a little dry or tight.
Makeup and skincare
- Makeup: Wait at least 24 hours. Your skin needs that first day to settle.
- Actives: Hold retinoids, alpha/BHA acids, and exfoliating pads. You’ll restart later, usually around day 7 to 10.
- Cleansing: Lukewarm water only. Skip hot water and long showers.
Exercise, heat, and “I’ll just sweat a little”
For the first 48 to 72 hours, skip intense exercise and anything that overheats you. That includes saunas, hot yoga, hot showers, and long steamy baths. Sweat and heat tend to sting, trigger redness, and can raise your risk of irritation. If you commute in from Leesburg, Ashburn, Sterling, Potomac Falls, Hamilton, or Brambleton, I’m a big fan of early-morning or evening appointments so you’re not dealing with Route 7 heat and sweat right after your peel.
Quick rule: If it makes you flush, sweat, or feel “hot in the face, ” pause it for 48 to 72 hours.
Days 3 to 7: sunscreen is your best friend (especially in Lansdowne)
By day 3, most people feel pretty normal, which is exactly when it’s easy to get casual about aftercare. Don’t. Your skin is still in a recovery window. Keep your routine gentle, stay hydrated, and be consistent with SPF.
Sun rules that actually protect your results
- SPF 30 to 50, broad-spectrum, daily for at least two weeks. Longer is even better, since UV exposure never really takes a day off.
- Reapply if you’re outside, driving, or running errands around Lansdowne Village. A quick stop near Lansdowne Resort still counts as sun exposure if you’re walking between buildings.
- Add a hat and sunglasses. Physical barriers make a bigger difference than people think.
If you flake a little, do this instead of picking
Bio RePeel often skips the dramatic sheet peeling people expect from stronger chemical peel formulas, but mild dryness or light flaking can still happen. Let it slough naturally. Don’t peel it off. Add moisturizer and keep cleansing gentle. If anything looks unusual, feels painful, or keeps getting redder instead of calmer, reach out so I can guide you.
Products and habits that protect a $225 Bio RePeel result
I run a medical spa and wellness center because results matter, but they also need to fit real schedules. The easiest way to protect your skin rejuvenation is to keep your routine short for one week and then build back up.
The simple routine I like for the first week
- AM: gentle cleanse, fragrance-free moisturizer, broad-spectrum SPF 30 to 50
- PM: gentle cleanse, moisturizer
When to restart retinol, acids, and exfoliation
Wait about 7 to 10 days before you restart retinoids or exfoliants. If your skin still feels sensitive, give it a little more time. When you do restart, go slow. One active at a time, a couple nights a week, and build up from there.
When to reach out to me (and what’s normal)
A little redness, mild tightness, or light flaking can be normal after Bio RePeel. What I don’t want you to ignore is worsening redness, swelling that doesn’t settle, increasing tenderness, or pain. If something feels off, it’s always better to ask than to guess.
Dr. Baksh is wonderful. I’ve been seeing him on and off for several years now. He’s kind, understanding, goes above and beyond with bis care, and remembers every detail. His staff is also so sweet and flexible.
One of our long-time clients
If you’re fitting aftercare between work, school runs, or a commute, keep it simple and consistent. And if you’re planning your next steps, I’m happy to talk through how Bio RePeel pairs with other skin rejuvenation options in a med spa setting, like microneedling near me searches often bring up, or when it makes sense to space out a chemical peel series. Our team also supports a full medical clinic and wellness center menu, including weight loss programs, hormone replacement therapy, botox, dermal fillers, laser hair removal, hair loss treatment, glutathione+, iv infusion near me requests, iv infusion therapy near me, and erectile dysfunction care. We’ll keep the plan realistic for your skin and your calendar.
BioRePeel recovery FAQs I get every week
Can I exercise after Bio RePeel (No-Peel-Peel)?
I recommend skipping intense exercise, heavy sweating, and heat exposure for 48 to 72 hours. Gentle walking is usually fine if it doesn’t make you sweat or flush. If you’re treating in the summer humidity around Lansdowne, err on the cautious side.
When can I wear makeup after a Bio RePeel (No-Peel-Peel)?
Wait at least 24 hours. That first day is when your skin is most reactive. When you do apply makeup, keep it light and avoid anything that feels drying.
Will I visibly peel after a Bio RePeel (No-Peel-Peel)?
Many people don’t get dramatic peeling with Bio RePeel. Some do notice mild dryness or light flaking. Either way, don’t pick. Moisturize and let your skin shed naturally.
How long until I can use retinol or exfoliants again after Bio RePeel?
Plan on 7 to 10 days. If your skin still feels tender or tight, wait a bit longer and restart slowly.
Is it safe to go swimming or use a hot tub after Bio RePeel?
I recommend avoiding swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas, and long hot showers for 48 to 72 hours. Chlorine, heat, and prolonged moisture can irritate freshly treated skin and increase infection risk.
Need a quick check-in? Call or email me and tell me what day you’re on after your Bio RePeel. I’ll help you adjust your routine so you keep that glow without irritation.
